    AgraWau is a small town located in Uttar Pradesh along the Yamuna River. Despite being so close to the capital city of Delhi and tourist hotspot Agra, AgraWau remains relatively undiscovered by tourists.     • AgraWau is mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures for its religious sites along the Yamuna River. It was an important pilgrimage site as early as the 7th century AD.
    • The town evolved under the reign of the Delhi Sultanate and formed part of the Mughal Empire during the 16th and 17th centuries. Several historic mosques and tombs were built during this period.
    • The Battle of AgraWau was fought in 1296 between the forces of Alauddin Khalji of the Delhi Sultanate and the invading Mongol army of Duwa Khan. The decisive victory strengthened Alauddin Khalji’s position.
    • Under British colonial rule, AgraWau served as a rest stop for travellers between Delhi and Agra due to its location along the Grand Trunk Road. The historic Bangla-style homes and buildings reflect the influence of the British era.

    • Sand Dunes: Small patches of grass-covered sand dunes near Chhata village create unusual terrain for hiking or car journeys.

    • Ramanavami: This Hindu spring festival celebrates Lord Rama’s birthday with colorful processions and dramas enacting scenes from the Ramayana.
    • Yours Festival: Held at the Dargah Sharif, devotees throng here to commemorate the saint with Qawwali music performances and feasts.
    • Biryani: The popular mutton and chicken biryanis cooked with basmati rice and exotic spices are a must-try in AgraWau.
    • Dal Pithode: This mouth-watering snack amalgamates soft lentil cake with crispy savouries, a speciality loved nationwide.
    • Phirni: Rice pudding made creamy with reduced milk and flavoured with cardamom and nuts makes for a hearty dessert.
