The Asus VivoBook Q535 is an affordable 2-in-1 convertible laptop aimed at students and casual users looking for a versatile machine without breaking the bank. In this Asus VivoBook Q535 review, we will take an in-depth look at its specifications, performance, and features to see if it’s a good choice.

    Design and Display

Sporting a sturdy plastic chassis, the Asus VivoBook Q535 feels well-built for its price range. At only 1.8 pounds and 0.7 inches thick, it’s lightweight and portable enough to carry around in a backpack. Its 360-degree hinge allows flipping the 15.6-inch touchscreen display all the way back into tablet mode.

The 1080p resolution on its LED-backlit screen provides sufficiently sharp visuals for everyday tasks. However, it lacks HDR or wide color gamut support for high-end creative work. Viewing angles are decent but certainly less wide than more expensive IPS panels. Overall, the display is okay for basic web browsing, streaming, and other light multimedia consumption on the go.

    Hardware and Performance

Under the hood, the Asus VivoBook Q535 packs an 11th gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor, 8GB of RAM, and integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics. This provides swift performance for productivity software like Office, web browsing with dozens of open tabs, and casual gaming.

Its relatively thin and lightweight design means there’s no dedicated graphics card. So you cant expect high-end or latest games to run smoothly at native resolution. Integrated graphics are sufficient for less demanding older titles or indies at lower settings, though. Asus 2-in-1 q535

For storage, it comes with a 512GB PCIe SSD. This provides ample space for files, applications, and some games/media. Boot and load times are quick, thanks to the speedy SSD. Port selection is basic but sufficient, including 1x USB-C 3.2, 2x USB-A 3.2, HDMI 1.4, and a headphone/mic combo jack. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.

    Battery Life

Asus rates the VivoBook Q535’s battery life at up to 10 hours on a single charge. Our real-world testing involving common productivity tasks like document editing, web browsing, streaming video, and light gaming it consistently lasted around 7-8 hours on a charge.

This is decent longevity for an affordable 2-in-1 laptop. Just be aware that resource-intensive activities like gaming will drain the battery much faster. The included 65W power adapter charges the battery back up relatively quickly, too.

    Software and Features

Out of the box, the Asus VivoBook Q535 runs Windows 11 Home in S mode. This limits installations to Microsoft Store apps for enhanced security. You can choose to switch out of S mode freely for wider software compatibility.

Asus also bundles some basic utility software for system updates, firmware controls, and screen recording/sharing. It supports Wi-Fi 6 for speedy wireless networking and Bluetooth 5.0 for pairing peripherals like wireless headphones or mice.

The touchscreen display and 360-degree hinge allow using it like a tablet in various modes. Handwriting and digital ink support are included for note-taking with the active pen. The built-in fingerprint reader provides easy and secure sign-ins as well.

    Value and Competition

Priced at around $600-$650 depending on retail and sales, the Asus VivoBook Q535 provides good overall value for an affordable 2-in-1 laptop. You get a capable Intel Core processor alongside full Windows functionality in a versatile touch-enabled convertible design.

Some competitors include models like the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5, Acer Spin 5, and HP Envy x360. At the same time, they offer similar 2-in-1 designs, but many need more components to hit lower prices, which affects performance. The Asus delivers solid specs while maintaining quality control and building materials used.

Should You Buy the Asus VivoBook Q535?

    • Pros: Lightweight and portable design, touchscreen display, versatile 360-hinge, good performance for the price
    • Cons: Plastic build, unremarkable screen, no dedicated graphics

The Asus VivoBook Q535 provides everything most casual users need in an affordable 2-in-1 laptop – from productivity software and web browsing to light gaming. Its versatile form factor adds versatility for different settings.

While far from the most powerful machine, specifications are adequate given the low price tag. Build quality could be better but remains reasonable. Overall it delivers good value as an everyday portable laptop or tablet for students, home/office use on a tight budget.

    Asus VivoBook Q535 Specifications:

Asus VivoBook Q535 Features in Detail:

    • 360-Degree Hinge: The Vivobook Q535’s flexible hinge allows the folding of the laptop into various modes, like a tent, stand, and tablet. This improves versatility.
    • Active Pen Support: A digital pen is included to take advantage of the touchscreen for note-taking, drawing, and annotating in compatible apps.
    • Touchscreen Display: The 15.6-inch full HD LCD panel supports finger and pen input. Great for interacting with the OS and apps in different modes.
    • Durable Plastic Chassis: While not as premium as metal, the outer shell feels sturdy enough at this price point to withstand regular use and transport in a bag.
    • Intel Iris Xe Graphics: Integrated graphics are capable of less demanding games. Though no substitute for a discrete GPU, it lets you play lighter titles when traveling.
    • Secure Fingerprint Login: Built-in Windows Hello compatible fingerprint scanner allows logging in effortlessly with a single touch instead of passwords.
    • Portable Design: At only 1.8 pounds and 0.7 inches, the Vivobook Q535 easily slips into bags for students or professionals on the go.
    • Long Battery Life: Rated for up to 10 hours, real-world tests show 7-8 hours on average for productivity use before needing to recharge.

In conclusion, the Asus VivoBook Q535 provides a great combination of performance, features and flexibility at an affordable price point, making it a solid choice for casual users looking for an everyday 2-in-1 laptop without breaking the bank. Its versatile 360-hinge design paired with basic yet adequate specs delivers good value overall.
